DIY Piñata - Summer simplified

Nothing says fun like a piñata! Why don't you build one yourself?
This quick video will show you how easy it is to create this project! Welcome to Summer Simplified!

You Will Need:

-Two Large Sheets of Foamcore or cardboard

-Bristol Board

-Tissue Paper

-Double Sided Tape

-Pencil or pen

-Scissors

-Exacto Knife

-Duct tape

-Colourful Cardstock

-Candy

Steps:

-Draw a shape of your choice with your pencil or pen onto the foam core and cut it out with your exacto knife.

-Trace this cute out shape onto your second piece of foamcore and cut it out

-Cut 6" wide strips of bristol board using your scissors

-Using duct tape, begin taping the edge of the bristol board to the edge of your foam core, perpendicularly to create the beginning of a 3D shape. Continue this all the way around the first side of your foam core shape, creating a bristol board border.

-Add your candy

-Attach your 2nd foam core shape to the back of the piñata form using duct tape and enclosing the candy. Ensure every possible opening is secured and closed with duct tape.

-Fold your tissue paper into long 3 inch tall strips and cut 1cm wide slit into the bottom edge of it to create fringe. Use as many colours as you would like.

-Place double side tape on your piñata form and begin affixing the tissue fringe. Start with one side of the form, moving the other side and doing the bristol sides last. Start from the bottom of the piñata form and move up to avoid tripping over all the fringe! Continue this until your piñata is completely covered in fringe.

-Using scissors cut out shapes or embellishment for your piñata from your cardstock.

-Apply your shapes to the piñata using double sided tape.

-Hang and smash!
